By looking at the current global challenge to tackle mainly Non-Communicable diseases, Naturopathy and Yoga play a significant role in this direction. It’s the need of the hour to train young minds as Medical practitioners in Naturopathy and Yoga to meet this global challenge. Thinking in this direction, our management JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru with a visionary leadership of our Founder president “His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Sri Dr. Shivarathri Rajendra Maha Swamigalavaru” started a BNYS (Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic sciences) college in 1997 to provide a holistic health care education and services to the students and the general public/ people suffering from different medical conditions respectively.
Naturopathy and Yoga System of Medicine is a distinct type of primary care medicine that blends age-old healing traditions with scientific advances. It is guided by a unique set of principles that recognize the body’s innate healing capacity, emphasize disease prevention, and encourage individual responsibility to obtain optimal health. The Naturopathy and Yoga doctor tries to understand each patient’s condition, and views symptoms as the body’s means of communicating an underlying imbalance. Treatments address the patient’s underlying condition, rather than individual presenting symptoms. There are many scientific findings on effectiveness of Naturopathy and Yoga for prevention and management of non-communicable diseases.
“India does not need imported drugs from the West when she has an inexhaustible stock of a variety of drugs grown in the villages themselves. But more than drugs they have to teach the people the right mode of living” – Mahatma Gandhiji
